On December 31, 2014, we took a TGV from Cannes to Paris. In the evening, we made our way to the Eiffel tower to see what we thought were going to be incredible New Year's fireworks; alas, what we saw could not compare with what we're used to seeing in Cannes. We later found out that this year, all the budget went to a light show on the Champs Elysées. We had fun anyway, but the Fujifilm X100S I had brought just for that occasion remained unused. Instead, I used my iPhone to take a number of photos up to and including January 2 when we took an evening train back home. The highlight of the trip was definitely the performance of An American in Paris at the musical theater Châtelet at 8 p.m. on January 1, 2015. Two words: perfect and unforgettable! Good news for the folks in New York: they will be able to see the same show with the same cast at the Palace theater on Broadway starting in April (previews as early as March). If you're there, don't miss it!
